Luthier  de Jaco-Stebler

Giuseppe De Jaco, born in Tricase (Italia)  31.07.1950

Thirty-five years ago I began building violins as an apprentice of my fathers. Later on I worked as a luthier in Florenz with my brother.

In Florence my brother and I founded the folklore band  "Puddica" with other musicians from the South of Italy. Soon we toured Europe and gave several concerts.  At the same time we were a part of the theatre-ensemble "Pupi e Frisedde" in Florenz and  helped with the realisation of the disc with Eugenio Bennato and Musica Nova.  !!

On one of my tours in 1985 I met  Edith Stebler and moved to Switzerland. We first lived together in Olten, before we moved to Ligerz in 1991. Ligerz is a small medieval villiage on the lake of Biel.

I had started building violins, guitars and other string instruments again, soon after I had moved to Switzerland. Especially high-class violas were esteemed in the Bielersee-region  Various of our instruments can be heard in orchestras and musicschools.

Specialities of our atelier are our hand-made children's violins that we let. Their advantage over factory-violins is their good sound quality, that trains the childrens ears from an early stage when learning to play
